Special envoy of the President of the United States in the middle East Jason Greenblatt held on Wednesday, January 31, meeting with ambassadors of the European Union in Israel, joined by the ambassadors of Canada, Australia, Norway and Switzerland.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Greenblatt told the ambassadors that the Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria are not an obstacle to the peace process. The us envoy encouraged the diplomats to look at the Declaration and the publication in the media, and the real construction in the settlements, which is virtually nonexistent. The building, which still are being built within existing settlements.
Greenblatt reiterated the White house position on Jerusalem, and stated that it is not the task of the United States to build for the Palestinians a ladder that will allow them to get down from the tree on which they climbed.
The special envoy also refused to specify diplomats the terms in which the United States will present its plan for a peaceful settlement.
