Sunday, 17 September, Hamas officially announced the dissolution of the so-called shadow government, which was established in the Gaza strip.
In a statement published on the website «Palestinian information center», belonging to Hamas, said: «government Ministers of the autonomy, headed by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah are invited to immediately come to Gaza to perform their duties.»
In the official report, which was published by the Hamas leaders stated that the organization is ready to conduct the General election and for talks with Fatah on the creation of a national unity government.
«We call for dialogue on the basis of Cairo agreement 2011 and to the formation of a government on the basis of agreements reached by the Palestinian movements in 2011», — stated in Hamas.
The representatives of the Islamists thanked the government of Egypt for the efforts, «which it applies to achieve inter-Palestinian reconciliation.»
Over the past week in Cairo is a delegation of Hamas. It is headed by the leader of the Politburo of the organization, Ismail Haniyeh. He is accompanied by Yahya Sanwar, who heads Hamas in Gaza, the Deputy Politburo head Musa Abu marzouk and Hamas Politburo member Salah al-Arouri. During the visit of Hamas representatives held talks with the heads of Egyptian intelligence of a possible end to the crisis in relations between Hamas and Fatah. Arrived in Cairo the delegation of Fatah led by Azam al-Ahmad, who is responsible in the government of the autonomy, the process of resolving the crisis with Hamas. He is accompanied by Hussein a-Sheikh, one of the confidants of the head of the Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas.
The existence of a shadow government in Gaza was the main reason for the sanctions, which were imposed by Abbas to the Gaza strip. Recall that the head of the PNA Mahmoud Abbas has in recent months made the decision about reduction of salaries of public sector workers and the termination of payment of supply in the electricity sector. The result left Gaza without electricity.
Negotiations on overcoming the political division was started soon after the coup perpetrated by Hamas in Gaza in 2007. However, all attempts to restore unity broke. The failure of the national reconciliation process between Fatah and Hamas blamed each other.
