In the journal Human Relations published the results of research scientists from Leicester and London universities (UK), according to which a high workload at work makes freelancers happier.
The study, which within 6 months was attended by 45 freelance workers, showed that freelancers become more calm and enthusiastic when working longer than usual. However, when the demands they faced, becoming more and more high, may increase the level of anxiety and the likelihood of symptoms of depression.
Scientists say that the tightening of requirements has a negative impact on the balance of «work – home», especially it affects the family and other non work obligations. Even in the case where the increase in stress at work increases the employee’s enthusiasm, this occurs at the expense of life outside of work.
At the same time, the study showed that overtime hours do freelancers more relaxed.
