Sunday, may 21, it became known that the Israeli state defense concern «Aviation industry» (TAA, IAI) signed a contract with Indian state-owned company Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the supply of air defense systems «Barak-8» for four ships of the Indian naval forces.
The amount of the transaction is estimated at $ 630 million.
System air defense/missile defense «Barak-8» is a complex designed for simultaneous detection and destruction of a wide spectrum of air threats, including aircraft, cruise missiles and missiles of class «surface-to-surface» in the sector 360 degrees on small-and medium-range at any time of day and adverse weather conditions.
SAM «Barack» developed jointly by IAI and Rafael of the company. India is among the countries which are armed with these complexes.
