According to the Department for investigation of offences committed by police officers (MAKHASH), in 2016 approximately 230 law enforcement officers appeared before the court and disciplinary or criminal.
In total, during the past year the staff MAKHASH finished checking 1.552 cases filed against police officers. Investigation of 100 cases resulted in a transfer to criminal court. The same number of cases had been referred to the disciplinary court.
In 68% of cases MAKHASH managed to collect sufficient evidence that would allow to make an unambiguous conclusion about the justice or injustice of the complaints filed against police officers.
In 3% of cases, the court acquitted the police, 78% of the trial were found to be the fault of the police officer. 19% of cases over a pre-trial deal.
Only 3% of the 275 of appeals was satisfied.
