According to the official data of the Ministry of labour and social security, in 2017, the Ministry considered 1.083 cases of dismissals of pregnant women.
In particular, the Ministry allowed the dismissal of 777 pregnant women and reducing the working rate 65 women. 128 decisions relate to change of ownership of enterprises, which employed pregnant women.
454 permit to dismiss filed 320 employers, have been given in connection with the deterioration of the financial situation or the closing of projects. 264 license has been issued in connection with long-term dissatisfaction with the work of women in the presence of aggravating circumstances (that is, the employers managed to convince the inspector that the continued recruitment of women will inflict significant damage). 59 permission was given in connection with the termination of the employment contract and the impossibility of its renewal.
355 dismissed women were at different stages of pregnancy, 119 received treatment from infertility, 151 were before leaving for maternity leave, 116 – at the end of postnatal leave, the 20 – within 60 days after the end of postnatal leave, and 16 during the period of unpaid leave after maternity leave.
459 dismissed had work experience of 2-5 years.
In 113 cases, the employer’s request for dismissal of a pregnant woman was rejected.
In addition, the Ministry received complaints from 70 women who claimed they were fired because of pregnancy. 3 women were reinstated after the appeal of the Ministry to the employer, in 26 cases the employers were sanctioned, in 16 cases the complaint was declared unfounded the remaining cases are under consideration.
