In the night of Wednesday, August 9, in China there was a new powerful earthquake. According to the U.S. Geological survey, its magnitude was 6.3.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located near the border with Kazakhstan, in KZT 235.7 km South-East of the Chinese city Baijayanta and 485 km North-East of Alma-ATA. The focus lies at a depth of 25.9 km.
Information on victims and destructions did not arrive.
This is the second earthquake in China over the past day. On Tuesday in Sichuan province in the West of the country, an earthquake of magnitude 6.5.
According to official data of the local authorities, the earthquake killed five people, 63 were injured. There are fears that hundreds of people might be under the rubble in the area of the National Park Jiuzhaigou.
