The President of Egypt signed a decree establishing the National Council for the fight against terror and extremism. As reported by the Agency MENA, its aim is to mobilize society and institutions in confronting terrorism and eradicating its foundations.
Will head Council the head of state. Its members will include the Chairman of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, rector of the Islamic University of al-Azhar, the Patriarch of the Coptic Church, the Ministers of defense, foreign Affairs, justice, the interior Minister and the Ministry of religious Affairs and public figures.
About plans on creation of the Council al-Sisi said in April 2017, after the terrorist attacks in the Church of Tanta and the Cathedral of St. Mark in Alexandria, committed by militants of the «Islamic state». The victims were almost 50 people.
The task of the Council is to develop and implement the national strategy of the fight against terror. It will also have, jointly with ministries and religious institutions to work to counter extremist propaganda and moderate religious views.
