German startup Sono Motors introduced its first product – an electric car with on-roof solar panels, called Sion. The company intends to sell the model at the price of 16 thousand euros, reports Motor.ru.
On the car roof panel is installed with 330 photovoltaic elements that are protected by a special polycarbonate cover.
The novelty will be offered with two battery options – 14.4 V with a capacity of 30 kilowatt-hours. In the first case, the reserve Sono Sion will be about 80 kilometers, and the second reaches 190 kilometers.
Through a system of quick recharging batteries to 80% charge in 40 minutes. According to the developers, in clear weather, the battery can be recharged in eight hours only with the help of solar panels.
Currently, Sono Motors is taking pre-orders for the model. To start the car in the series 5 company needs thousands of orders. It is planned that the first customers will receive their electric cars in 2019.
