In tel Aviv finished the international tournament on the international draughts for the prizes of the founder of the Draughts Federation of Israel Shlomo Borokhov.

Borokhiv Shlomo immigrated to Israel in 1970 from Samarkand. In the Soviet Union was known as a strong checkers player, the participant of Championships of the country. In Israel, he immediately set up draughts, although he was very busy doing business, played a prominent role in public and political life of immigrants from the Soviet Union. In 1978 Borokhiv have achieved a unique accomplishment: although the USSR had no diplomatic relations with Israel command Israel admitted to the European championship in Tbilisi, where she won third place.
A few years ago, he, the Honorary President of the national draughts Federation, set up a Cup Borokhov – tournament of the strongest players of Israel, which allocated the prize pool.
This year the tournament has gained an international status. It, along with the Israelis played as guests from Russia, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The competition took place under the tutelage of world Congress of Bukharian Jews. The organizing Committee was headed by the coordinator of the forums of the Congress Jeanne Cohen.
The participants of the tournament played according to the Swiss system in 6 rounds. A short distance led to an intense struggle. In the end, the first finished Shows Jacob (Israel) with a score of 10 points out of 12. 2 points behind three competitors. Additional criteria for second place went to Boris Plotkin (Israel), the third – andré Kleinman (Belgium), the fourth – Erik van Kampen (Netherlands). By the world draughts Federation, next year, «Borokhov’s Cup» will be one of the stages of the world Cup.
