Unidentified criminals kidnapped in Beirut businessman Hannibal Gaddafi, one of the sons of the late leader of the Libyan Jamahiriya Muammar Gaddafi. Soon after the kidnapping he was released.
Captors recorded a video message of Hannibal Gaddafi, who was asked to provide more information about the fate of Musa Sadr, the spiritual leader of Shiites who went missing in Libya in 1978.
According to some reports, the kidnappers beat Gaddafi.
Hannibal Gaddafi, along with other surviving and remaining free members of the family of the former dictator has been granted asylum in Oman.
In October 2011 in Sirte, the rebels captured and murdered Muammar Gaddafi and his son Mutasim. Earlier in the bombing of Tripoli killed his other son, Saif al-Arab. Youngest son Khamis died in fighting with rebels. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was captured by rebels in captivity.
