The American Corporation Boeing completed the implementation of the contract on the supply of Turkey aircraft distant radar detection Peace Eagle. Solemn ceremony in honor of receiving its fourth aircraft was held at the Turkish air force in Konya the centre of the country.
Peace Eagle is based on the Boeing 737-700. The main part is installed in electronic equipment manufactured by Northrop Grumman. The rest of the equipment delivered to Turkey – mainly of Turkish origin.
The price of the 2002 contract amounted to one billion dollars. It was planned that the first aircraft Turkey will receive in 2008. Initially the aircraft was planned to install Israeli avionics production. However, in 2010, after a sharp deterioration of relations with Turkey, the Israeli defense Ministry banned the company ELTA to participate in the project.
