In the Druze villages of the Golan heights since 1967 municipal elections will be held

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri told the mayors located in the Golan heights, Druze villages of Bukata, Masada, Ein Kinya and Madzhal-Shams, that next year the first municipal elections will be held.

Until now, the mayors of these villages, a considerable part of whose inhabitants still consider themselves citizens of Syria, appointed by decree of the Minister of internal Affairs.

Elections in the Druze villages of the Golan heights will be held concurrently with municipal elections across Israel on 30 October 2018, according to Haaretz.

It should be noted that under the law the post of mayor in Israel could take only a citizen of Israel, so many of the 23.000 inhabitants of the four villages will not be able to apply for the post because I refuse to get citizenship and have only permanent resident status.
