On Sunday morning, February 11, the government presented to the Knesset the draft state budget for the year 2019. At the same time for consideration by the Knesset passed a law on economic regulation.
At the time of submission of the draft budget in the meeting room was attended by one member – URI Maklev («yaadut Torah») and economy Minister Ali Cohen («Kulan»).
The vote on both bills in the first reading on 13 February.
Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he intends to seek the approval of the draft budget before the end of the session of the Knesset, not later than March 27. The ultra-Orthodox factions require the adoption of a new law on conscription before the budget is approved.
On 12 January the government approved the draft state budget for the year 2019. The volume of the state budget for 2019 will be 397,3 billion shekels. The education budget is 60 billion, the health budget is 38 billion shekels in the budget for social needs and support program Holocaust survivors will be NIS 13 billion on disability benefits is allocated 2 billion shekels. The defence Ministry’s budget will amount to 63 billion shekels. The planned government budget deficit in 2019 will amount to 2.9% of GDP, and in 2020 – 2.5% of GDP.
