Yellow Scorpion (Leiurus quinquestriatus, also known as the Palestinian or Israeli Scorpion) inhabits the arid and desert region in North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and the middle East. Typical habitat is desert or dunes.
Yellow Scorpions have an active and quite aggressive character. Their venom is very strong and contains a mixture of neurotoxins c the LD50 dose (the average dose of the substance causing the death of half of the members of a tested population). It is most dangerous to children, the elderly and immunocompromised people (especially people with heart diseases); for a healthy adult is less dangerous. However, any intoxication can result in anaphylaxis – a potentially life-threatening Allergy to venom. As a rule, the cause of death as a result of the bite of the yellow Scorpion is pulmonary edema.
