In the result of an avalanche on Saturday, March 31, in the Swiss Canton of Valais near the resort of Fiescheralp, under snow blockages there were five people. Local authorities report that three of them died.
According to Le nouvelliste, all the victims were probably Spaniards. But the bodies have not yet been identified, and the nationality of the victims is not clearly defined.
According to published information, five tourists riding on mountain skiing in the Upper Valais, at a height of 2450 m, between Fiesel and Miseralba when they descended an avalanche. Two were rescued, they were hospitalized with minor injuries and in a condition of strong nervous shock.
As noted by the Swiss newspaper, the two victims were saved due to the fact that all members of this group was in possession of the device to determine the location of the person under the snow. Rescuers noticed these markers from the helicopter and brought the injured to the hospital. In the same way were found the bodies of three victims. The search operation was hampered by difficult weather conditions and night time.
