According to the latest data presented by the Director General of the public employment services Boaz Hirsch, the event «Young Knesset» over the past year, the situation in employment in the southern district of Israel has improved dramatically.
As at the end of 2016 the number of applications for receiving unemployment benefits was reduced compared to 2015 is 12%, and the number of claims for benefits subsistence level by 28%.
However, the Negev is still far behind other parts of the country on unemployment. Most problematic in this respect the Bedouin towns Arar (25% unemployment), Xave (21%), tel Sheva and Lakiya (16%).
The head of strategic planning Department in the Ministry of economy Michal Pink said that in the near future, the Ministry plans to invest in a solution to the problem of unemployment in the Negev 750 million shekels to draw 3-4 large-scale production.
