January 25, 28-year-old Giulio Regeni left the apartment in Giza to meet up with friends, since then he had been missing. On the day of his disappearance in Egypt celebrated the anniversary of the uprising that put an end to the reign of Hosni Mubarak.

Doctoral candidate of Cambridge arrived in Egypt in preparation for writing my thesis. He researched the history of the local trade Union movement. Earlier, police claimed that was not involved in his disappearance.

Egypt’s Ambassador in Rome was summoned to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Italy. He was handed a note of protest in connection with the death of Regeni.
