On Saturday, March 24, hundreds of thousands of Americans staged a demonstration for tougher rules for the issuing of a licence to acquire arms. Participants in the «March for our lives», among which the vast majority were young people, carried placards reading «Protect children, not guns» and «am I next?».
The demonstrators called on legislators and President of the trump come to an agreement on tighter controls on the possession of firearms, threatening to solve the issue by voting in the next election.
The largest demonstrations took place on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington.
One of the surviving girls school in Parkland, Emma Gonzalez, said in a Washington speech in which were listed the names of her fallen comrades. After listing their names, the girl remained on stage in silence for exactly 6 minutes, 20 seconds — as much time as needed in order to kill them.
While Gonzales stood in silence on stage, the crowd chanted «never again».
Solidarity rallies were also held in other cities around the world, particularly in Tokyo, London, Geneva, Sydney, Edinburgh.
On a «March for our lives» was announced a few days after the mass killings in school in Florida.
14 February 2018 Valentine’s Day, Nicolas Cruz made an armed attack on a school name Marjorie Stoneman Douglas in Parkland (72 km from Miami), which was previously excluded. He killed 17 people and wounded 16. The attack shortly after Cruz was detained.
