Indian state company oil and gas plans to participate in tenders for surveying for gas deposits by the governments of Israel and Lebanon.
The corresponding statement was made by the Minister of petroleum industry of India Darmendrail the Pradhan in an interview with news Agency Reuters.
Note that the involvement of Indian companies to search for gas in Israel has been one of the important topics discussed during the visit to Israel of Prime Minister of India Narendra modi. Agreement on the issue continued during the Pradhana with the Minister of energy of Israel Yuval Stanitsam at the international energy forum in Istanbul.
At the end of August on a working visit to Israel was visited by a large delegation of senior representatives of the energy sector of India.
The delegation includes heads of the four major Indian oil and gas companies, Fortune 500, officials of the government of India and Ambassador of India to Israel Pavan Kapoor. Members of the delegation presented information on tenders to search for oil and gas in the exclusive economic waters of Israel.
Recall that in June 2017, the Ministry of energy of Israel announced the postponement of the deadline for the submission of applications for participation in the tender to find the gas in the exclusive economic zone of Israel in the Mediterranean sea.
The deadline for submission of applications is postponed from July to November 2017. This is the second transfer – originally the tender had to be closed in April.
The reason is the low interest of foreign oil companies to search for gas in Israel, both because of rigid regulation, and geopolitical problems.
In tenders, the Cyprus and Lebanon, attended by almost all the major oil companies, while in Israel the application for participation in the tender of the relatively large players filed only Greek Energean and Italian Edisson.
