Inspector-General of police, Roni Alsheikh opposed the bill prohibiting the investigating authorities to publish recommendations at the conclusion of the investigation.
Speaking to reporters after a speech to the Commission on internal Affairs, Roni Alsheikh said: «the Police does not publish recommendations, and reports the results of the investigation and conclusions about the presence or absence of evidence sufficient to send the case to court. It is impossible to complete the investigation without having to transfer the findings to the Prosecutor’s office. Otherwise, prosecutors will have to investigate. Do you think this is possible? Therefore, we cannot leave an investigation unfinished.»
The statement of Alsaha occurred against the background of the intentions of the coalition to introduce a bill prohibiting the submission of recommendations after the completion of the police investigation. This bill will be submitted on 5 November for consideration by the inter-Ministerial Commission on legislation.
