The Ministry of defence of Russia has published video evidence of the destruction of militants «Islamic state» historic monuments of ancient Palmyra (Tadmor) in Syria. The shooting was made unmanned aircraft.
As noted by RIA Novosti, on shown footage clearly shows that the destruction of the Central part of the ancient Roman theatre (procenium) and columns tetrapylon – rectangular building, built in 270 BC. The Palmyra was liberated from the militants with the active participation of the Russian military in March 2016. Russia has sent to Palmyra sappers to mine the ancient city. In the area created a temporary base of the Russian army.
May 6, 2016 in the amphitheater of the city took place the concert of the Symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky theatre under Valery Gergiev. Later, there were still a few concerts for the Russian military.
11-12 December 2016, after fierce fighting, Islamic state re-established control over Palmyra. Islamists were published frames of video recording, showing that the Russian, Iranian and Syrian military retreated in panic, leaving weapons and personal belongings.
