Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Minister of health Yaakov litzman announced that it accepted the recommendation of the special inter-Ministerial Commission to allow the export of medical marijuana.
According to experts of the Commission, the Israeli producers of medical marijuana can export cannabis worth up to 4 billion shekels a year.
The Commission’s recommendations include strict regulation of exports. In particular, exports must be carried out through the Ministry of health or directly by the manufacturer, without intermediaries. In addition, to supply medical marijuana will be available only in countries where its use in medical prices is allowed.
The Ministry of Finance, agriculture, health and economy will create special group which will be engaged in the marketing of Israeli medical marijuana.
Currently in Israel there are 8 licensed producers of medical marijuana, producing about 10 tons per year. About 500 farmers have applied for a license.
