Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on December 8 arrived with an official visit to the US, the Central event of which will be the meeting with Barack Obama.
Before you fly to the U.S., Rivlin said that he used to celebrate Hanukkah in your family, together with her grandchildren: «But if the circumstances were such that I had to be somewhere else, I’m glad this place are the United States, our closest and most reliable ally,» he said.
Meeting with Barack Obama scheduled for December 9, and it will be discussed issues of global terrorism and regional issues.
After the meeting the President has scheduled two festive lighting of the Hanukkah candles.
During the visit to the American capital the President will also meet with the heads of the house of representatives of the U.S. Congress and will deliver a lecture at the Institute of Brokings.
After the completion of the Washington portion of the visit, the President will travel to new York, where he will meet with heads of Jewish communities in the United States, and on December 14 will take part in the ceremony of lighting the eighth candle of Hanukkah.
Under current law, in the absence of the President of the state of Israel in its functions to fulfill Parliament speaker Yuli Edelstein.
