According to a study conducted by scientists from Japan’s Tohoku University, daily consumption of citrus (oranges, lemons, grapefruit or limes) can be almost a quarter to reduce the risk of developing dementia, reports the Daily Mail.
Citric acid contains nobiletin – a flavonoid that not only slows down the process of deterioration of the memory, but and to improve it.
For a long time scientists have tracked the condition of 13 of thousands of men and women, both middle aged and older adults and found that those who ate citrus fruits daily were 23% less risk for dementia than those who ate oranges and lemons in food at least two times a week.
The results of the first serious studies of the impact of citrus on the condition of people at risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, was published in the journal British Journal of Nutrition.
