The US will be forced to take «drastic measures» if Russia and Iran will continue to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and will block the process of political transfer of power in Syria. On Saturday, 5 December, said U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry.
«If Russia and Iran will stand by the unit and will allow Assad simply to doom the process to failure, we will know who is a problem. In this case, we will have fewer options for action and we have to make some tough measures» – quoted Kerry RIA «Novosti».
As the head of the American foreign Ministry, the U.S. «can’t afford» such developments. In his words, «threaten the security of the United States and all countries in Europe.»
Earlier in the day foreign Minister of France Laurent Fabius stated that he sees no need for the resignation of Bashar al-Assad as President of Syria as a precondition for political change.
In an interview with Le Progres, he believed that to preserve the unity of Syria needs political change, but it does not require the immediate resignation of Assad. However, Fabius made it clear that the Syrian President who has committed many crimes, is unlikely to remain in power.
