The President of the International football Federation (FIFA) Joseph Blatter and the President of the Union of European football associations (UEFA) Michel Platini suspended from football activities for 8 years. While Platini also fined 80 thousand Swiss francs, according to TASS with reference to the press service of FIFA.
In early October, the ethics Committee of FIFA in the ongoing investigation decided to dismiss the President of FIFA Joseph Blatter and Platini from their positions and any football activity for 90 days with possible extension of suspension, but not more than 45 days. The reason for this decision was the transfer Blatter payment in the amount of 2 million Swiss francs from funds on the accounts of FIFA Platini in 2011.
A few hours before the announcement of the decision of the ethics Committee to dismiss Platini has applied to participate in the election of the FIFA President, scheduled for February 26, 2016. Later, the electoral Commission explained that it will not consider the candidacy of the Frenchman to the removal of all sanctions.
