According to the website «kalkalist» in the coming days, interior Minister Aryeh Deri will present the main points of the law, which will allow the interior Ministry to close Shabbat shopping centers outside of cities, for example, located at the intersection of Beale, in Shfaim and Givat Shmuel.
The law will allow the Minister to engage with inspectors, monitors compliance with the law on hours of work and rest. Until now, these inspectors are only in the Ministry of labour and social security.
Earlier, the Minister presented the theses of the law, which will allow him to refuse approval of municipal regulatory acts allowing to trade on Saturdays. The Minister can also close the shops, leaving open only the «necessary minimum».
Recall that on October 26 the Supreme court of justice (high court) rejected the appeal lodged against a law allowing small shops in tel Aviv to work on Shabbat. It was the last verdict issued by the head of the Supreme court Miriam Naor’s resignation.
The court decision was made with majority, while religious judges remained in the minority. Representatives of the ultra-Orthodox factions are threatening a government crisis in case of implementation of the decision.
