A former President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Khatami delivered a video message urging voters to vote for the current President — Hassan Rouhani. Elections in Iran will be held may 19.
«Despite the challenges, complexity and the burden of expectations, the Board Rouhani was very successful. Voting for him, we vote for freedom of thought, justice, dialogue, ensuring the rights of citizens, social justice,» said Khatami.
He noted Rouhani’s achievements in the fight against inflation, which during the reign of the President was reduced from 40% to 9.5% per year. «Much has been done but much remains to be done,» added the former President.
Khatami, who is considered the leader of the reformist camp, for several years I was denied access to the media for the support of the mass protests of the reformists after the 2009 elections. The conservatives then accused him of treason.
