Municipal court Santa Clara, California was sentenced to 16 years in prison a 26-year resident of San Jose Robert farmer, the son of a retired police officer, convicted of the brutal murder of more than 20 pet cats, one of whom he sexually abused.
About it writes on Monday, July 17, local newspaper the Sacramento Bee.
After his release, Farmer banned for 10 years to keep animals and also appear in the district Cambrian Park, where the crimes were committed.
As follows from the materials of the criminal case, in 2015 Cambrian Park in San Jose began to mysteriously disappear cats, and then the locals found in the dumpster a few feline corpses with signs of abuse.
Killer animals identified on the recording surveillance camera installed at the entrance to the house of a local resident Miriam Petrova, whose Farmer kidnapped a cat named go-Go.
Robert Farmer, son of retired captain of police of San Jose, was arrested on October 8, 2015 – the young man slept in his car in the Parking lot. Between the seats of his car lay the corpse of a murdered cat, and the upholstery was stained with blood and scraps of wool.
Also, the police found in the car gloves and a hunting knife in a sheath hidden in his backpack. The gloves were covered with cat hair.
The veterinarian who examined the remains of the animal, came to the conclusion that he had committed sexual abuse. The results of genetic examination indicate that the detainee is involved in the murder of twenty cats.
Farmer friends called him cruel and aggressive person: one of them told me that he tied the clutches of a cat named angel and smashes it against the wall, and unjustly hit the grandson of this woman in the face and shot the boy from a pneumatic gun.
Assistant district attorney Alexandra Ellis offered to make the name of farmer in list of sex offenders. However, the court sided with the defense, who claimed that the sexual motive for the killings has not been proven. According to attorney Wesley Schroeder, the fact that sexual intercourse with a dead animal farmer says that he is a peeping Tom. The lawyer said that the defendant had used amphetamine, was in a condition of narcotic intoxication and did not give the report in their actions.
In the course of the trial the Farmer said that he suffers from a mental disorder – sociopathy.
