Italian carabinieri Friday, 10 February, held in the Sicilian city of Catania a large-scale operation against «Cosa Nostra».
According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, during the operation, which involved more than 500 law enforcement officers, were arrested 109 members of a clan Laudani.
The detainees are suspected of drug trafficking, extortion, illegal arms trafficking and other crimes.
According to preliminary data, in recent years the clan Laudani, which is one of the most dangerous gangs in Catania, was ruled by three women. They conducted their criminal business behind bars planted by male relatives, says NEWSru.com.
