Lavrov reacted to the U.S. decision to suspend the issuance of visas to Russians

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov promised not to harm the American citizens getting Russian visas in response to the recent steps of Washington. On Monday, August 21, he told reporters.

«As for our response, as I said, it is necessary to examine in detail the decisions that the Americans were announced. Look, I can only say one thing: we won’t disrupt the evil on American citizens. That is, if anyone was hoping that in this case, a bad example is contagious, he miscalculated» — quoted Lavrov RIA Novosti.

According to the head of the foreign Ministry, the decision of the us authorities intended to cause Russian citizens ‘ dissatisfaction with the actions of the government.

As previously reported, the U.S. Embassy in Russia on August 21, has stopped issuing Russians nonimmigrant visas. In Moscow, the visa issuance will resume on 1 September. American consulates in the regions of the issuance of visas suspended indefinitely.

«The decision of the Russian side to reduce the number of employees of the US diplomatic mission in the Russian Federation puts into question the seriousness of Russia’s desire to improve bilateral relations. We will keep the number of employees of the diplomatic mission at the level required to perform the key functions of our diplomatic missions… Previously scheduled appointments will be cancelled. And those who have already submitted documents for a visa are informed of how they will be able to reschedule,» – said in a statement on the website of the Embassy.
