Monday, June 26, took place the meeting of the Committee on foreign Affairs and defense. Opening the meeting, defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said about the inadmissibility of attacks on soldiers by Ministers and Knesset members.
«This is undermining national security,» said Avigdor Lieberman, and demanded that any and all claims, if any, was addressed to him as to the Minister of defence or Prime Minister and not to soldiers who do not have the right to answer the attacks of politicians.
Avigdor Lieberman also stressed that the Ministers and MPs who are harassing the military should not expect that the soldiers will later come to them for a fee. «I instructed the coordinator of government activities in the territories Poli Mordechai, that neither he nor his people did not agree to participate in any commissions convened by politicians, subjecting them to attacks,» – said the Minister of defence.
In his speech, Lieberman stressed that Israel does not intend to initiate a military campaign neither in the North nor in the South of the country. «We have recently suddenly appeared many prophets, which we predict hot summer: war in the North war in the South of the country. I, in turn, I want to clarify this issue. We have no intention to initiate any conflict, neither in the North nor in the South,» Lieberman was quoted by the press service of the Ministry of defence. At the same time, he pointed out, this does not mean that Israel is willing to ignore any-any attempts to undermine its sovereignty, even unintended. A response to such actions will follow, according to the Minister immediately and will be very hard.
«I also want to warn the gentlemen in Damascus – said Lieberman. – If you are hoping to turn Syria into another base «Hezbollah» and Iran of acting against Israel, you should take another very good to think about it». According to the Minister of defense, Israel won’t put up with this situation. Lieberman stressed that the security of Israeli citizens is a priority, and no one should try to undermine it, neither in the North nor in the South of the country.
