On Friday, July 21, in the evening, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas made a speech during the meeting of the Palestinian leadership in Ramallah. He said that his administration severs all ties with Israel and freeze relations with the Jewish state at all levels.
Abbas stressed that it will continue as long as Israel does not cancel the security measures taken a week ago after an armed attack on the Temple mount.
Abbas also stated that it held discussions with the heads of several countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco, and urged them to intervene in the conflict caused by the situation on the Temple mount. Also, the Palestinian President promised that the Palestinian authority will spend at least $ 25 million for treatment of all Palestinians injured in clashes with Israeli police and «to support Palestinians in Jerusalem.»
Abbas called on the Hamas leadership to forget about the conflict with Fatah and unite to struggle for the temple mount.
On the eve representatives of the Israel police said that the attack carried out on the Temple mount a week ago, changed the situation in the area and has made adjustments to procedures to ensure safety. Setting a framework of metal detectors allows the passage of worshipers, and provides for the detention of armed terrorists.
Police stressed that the appearance of metal detectors caused the indignation of the Arabs, as symbolized Israeli control over the Temple mount area.
