After September 25, the dialogue suggested that the Kurdish leadership, however, the official Baghdad has taken an extremely tough stance, blocking Iraqi Kurdistan. In mid-October, the Iraqi army and Shiite militias ousted the Kurdish rebels from the oil-rich province of Kirkuk.
Against Barzani were made by the opposition, who said that the Kurdish leader was guided not by interests of the people and their own ambitions. His opponents declared that Iraqi Kurdistan is, in fact, possessed of almost complete independence, lost it as a result of the adventurism of the President.
A few days ago, the government of the Kurdish Autonomous region has proposed to «freeze» the results of the referendum. It can be assumed that this decision prompted Barzani to resign. The President said that the focus on command of the self-defense groups «Peshmerga».
