In the evening of 20 December, the Minister of the interior Silvan Shalom announced that he is leaving politics.
Silvan Shalom said that the decision was taken after discussion with the family, which it fully supports. He noted that he did not want his children, wife and elderly mother once again survived what they had to endure during the first investigation.
This statement was made shortly before the start of consultations in the office of the legal Advisor to the government of Yehuda Weinstein with the police. The meeting should discuss the statements of the women who accused Silvan Shalom for sexual harassment.
Media reported that Silvan Shalom was absent at the weekly government meeting, and did not appear during the day in the workplace.
In March 2014 former subordinate Silvan Shalom accused him of sexual harassment. However, in may legal adviser to the government has recommended closing the investigation because of the information concerning suspicions against the Minister, not confirmed, in other cases, the police or failed to find victims, or women refused to cooperate with the investigation.

The woman refused to make a formal complaint to the police, but the investigation outlined his version of the incident. Shortly after this publication in the social network, another woman wrote that she has no doubt that women, accusing Shalom, tell the truth, as all that they describe, have experienced myself. Over the next two days revealed that six women accused the Minister in harassment.
At the end of the consultation, the legal Advisor to the government Yehuda Weinstein ordered police to check out complaints on Silvan Shalom.
