Toyota Motor Corp. sold everything she owned shares of the American company Tesla Motors, which manufactures electric cars, and stopped working with her. This was reported by the Agency Kyodo, citing their own sources.
Automakers have announced a collaboration in may 2010. Then Toyota bought a 3.15% stake in Tesla in about 4.5 billion yen (about us $40.5 million). Since then, the Japanese Corporation has developed a SUV with Tesla batteries, but it never went into mass production.
According to sources, Toyota decided to cease cooperation with Tesla because he doesn’t see the point of it having its own program of development of electric cars. In particular, in November last year, Toyota had established a special unit, whose task is the development of batteries, writes TASS.
According to media reports, the Japanese automaker plans to start serial production of electric vehicles by 2020.
