Interior Ministry ordered to stop distribute Russian-language edition of Eilat «Eilat LIVE» for violation of the Directive from 1933, prohibiting to publish Newspapers without receiving permission from the interior Ministry.
Directive of the days of the British mandate, adopted to gain control over the Jewish and Arab press, those times may soon be repealed as a bill on its abolition had already been adopted by the Knesset in the first reading.
Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, who called the Directive «archaic», intends to push for its abolition in the next few weeks. However, the interior Ministry claimed that while the Directive is in force, it is binding.
Knesset member from the Yisrael Beiteinu party, Yuliya Malinovskaya, which asked the editor of the «Eilat LIVE» Sergey Eunice, sent to the interior Ministry’s request for rescission of a decree on the closure of the publication.
