Military-political Cabinet in the night of Tuesday, July 25, has approved a program to provide security in the Old city of Jerusalem. According to the decision of the Cabinet, the metal detectors at Temple mount will be removed.
In accordance with the program, instead of metal detectors will be used alternative methods of security. In particular, it provides for the establishment of a network of surveillance cameras.
Program, the cost of which is estimated at 100 million shekels, shall be implemented within six months. To implement the policy, the Cabinet decided to increase the number of policemen stationed in the Old city and around the Temple mount.
Framework metal detectors were installed at the entrance to the temple mount after a terrorist attack on 14 July, when three terrorists armed with guns, opened fire on employees of law enforcement bodies. The attack killed two soldiers of the border police (the MAGICIAN). The attackers were liquidated.
