Publication, according to which Israel gave permission for the construction of 14,000 housing units in Qalqiliya, not true. This was stated in an interview with NEWSru.co.il official source in the Ministry of defence.
According to the source, we are talking about the expansion of the territory allotted for construction that will allow to retroactively legalize already built a house there.
The defense Ministry noted that this project is part of a «Carrot and stick». Qalqilya is chosen as the settlement, the inhabitants of which refrain from participation in acts of terrorism and violence against Israelis during the «intifada al Quds» in and around the city remained calm.

At the same time, a source in the defense Ministry did not give an exact or approximate number of housing units that are planned to legalize retroactively.
Note that after the Second channel reported yesterday that a permit for the construction of 14,000 housing units in Qalqiliya, in the office of the Minister of defence has not denied this information and said only that we are talking about the plan that was approved by the military-political Cabinet.
Earlier, defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has repeatedly talked about the need to combat illegal construction in Judea and Samaria and within the so-called «green line.» In addition, the defense Minister said that there is no possibility to legalize the Outpost of Amona and claimed that such practices are inadmissible and in respect of homes built in Arab localities.
