Two foreign journalist and two locals were arrested in Nay Pyi Taw on charges of running of the unmanned aerial vehicle over the Parliament building of Myanmar, reports The Guardian.
We are talking about citizens of Singapore and Malaysia who have worked in Myanmar on the instructions of the Turkish state TV channel TRT.
The journalists worked together with well-known local reporter. Also arrested was the driver, also a local resident.
The detainees are accused of importing and exporting «prohibited goods», which is punishable with imprisonment up to three years.
The incident occurred amid tensions between Myanmar and Turkey, as the authorities accused the last government of Myanmar on the genocide of Rohingya Muslims, calling it «Buddhist terror».
