In the night of Thursday, September 21, unidentified criminals desecrated the Church of St. Stephen, located in the monastery of Beit Jamal near Beit Shemesh.
Vandals smashed the stained glass Windows split the statue of the virgin Mary and broke furniture and icons. According to the newspaper «Haaretz», the emphasis vandals paid images.
Jerusalem police launched an investigation.
This is the third case of an attack by vandals on a monastery. In 2013 was an attempt of arson with Molotov cocktails, and in 2015 was desecrated tombstones in the monastery cemetery. In both cases, the criminals were not found.
