The President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu had a phone conversation, during which discussed bilateral relations and the situation in Syria.
The conversation was held on Israel’s initiative, notes the news Agency Sputnik with reference to the press service of the Kremlin.
The source reports that the Russian and Israeli leaders agreed on the need to conduct a series of high level meetings, timed to 25-anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia.
We will remind that last week the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the presence of foreign journalists announced the implementation of the agreements on Syria reached between Jerusalem and Moscow.
Russian state news Agency RIA Novosti focused on the words of Netanyahu about coordination of actions between the Russian and the Israeli military. He said that Israel and Russia with respect to «special interests» each other in Syria and have a mutual interest in continuing the coordination of their actions to avoid conflict situations.
«When I saw that Russia places its armed forces… in Syria, we decided that the wiser course would be to go and to speak directly with Mr. Putin, said Netanyahu. – We agreed that in this horrible jargon is called «deconfliction», that is, not to shoot each other. We have created the appropriate mechanism, and this mechanism works».
«I think we mutually respect the fact that we have our special interests, and we want to keep this coordination, or lack of confrontation continued,» added the Israeli Premier.
