Sunday, February 21, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the words of chief of General staff Lieutenant-General Gadi Eizenkot.
Opening the weekly Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that «the chief of staff said the obvious, self-evident things, our army and security forces, in any event, are doing just that».
Benjamin Netanyahu added that «all subsequent statements were either due to misunderstanding, or are political attacks that need to stop».
At today’s government meeting, Lieutenant-General Gadi Eizenkot will speak at a meeting of the government with a report on the current situation.
Performance Eisenkot was planned long ago, but has attracted particular attention in connection with the scandal that erupted after the speech of the chief of staff to students in Haifa. Answering a question from high school students about the methods to prevent the attacks, Eizenkot stated that «the IDF cannot act in accordance with populist appeals such as «kill the one who came to kill you.» The chief of staff added that «I would not like to have someone emptied the magazine in 15-year-old girl with scissors in their hands.»
