The New York Post in the material published on Tuesday, July 4, argues that hard drugs have infiltrated the Hasidic community of the United States. The publication cites an example of 20-year-old Fry Klein, who in June died from a heroin overdose.
According to members of the community, is not the only case of death from overdose among the Hasidim. Zvi Gluck, working with Jewish youth, suffering from drug addiction, said that since the beginning of the year in new York 60 Orthodox Jews died of opioid use. 20 of them belonged to the Hasidic community.
A friend of the deceased Fry Klein argues that heroin use of Hasidim pushing the sense of isolation. «It happens to lots of girls,» she says. Other community members believe that there is no connection between Hasidism and addiction, and blame the increase in the number of drugs on the streets.
