Off the coast of Sweden, South of port of Oskarshamn, ran aground cargo ship. The captain and Navigator of the ship, citizens of Russia, were at the time of the accident in a condition of alcoholic intoxication, reports Meduza with reference to Barometern.
37-year-old captain and 50-year-old co-driver taken to the police station, said the representative of press-service of management of police of Malmo.
Both detainees are suspected in control of the vessel in a condition of alcoholic intoxication. The Navigator, who is currently considered responsible for the incident, also suspected of negligence and gross violation of navigation rules.
The ship went to Oskarshamn from Visby (island of Gotland), under the flag of Faeroe Islands.
In the fuel tanks of the ship is 44 thousand liters of diesel fuel. The coast guard said that at present the situation is stable, not one drop of fuel is not spilled in the sea, and the sea water is not leaked into the hold.
