September 22, on 46-m to year of life from heart attack has died the famous American basketball player Glen Whidbey, reports the Hattiesburg American.
He was the star of the team from the University of southern Mississippi. He is the record holder of the «Golden eagles» number of rebounds — 1009. He ranks second in team history (after Clarence Witherspoon) rebounds in the attack (393) and the block-shot (222).
In February 1992 in a match against Louisville, he made 9 block shots.
Glen Whidbey didn’t make it in the NBA and continued his career in Europe. In 1995-2000 he played in Spain and Italy.
In 2000-01 Glen Whidbey played for UNICS, becoming the first American player in the history of the Kazan club.
