Only one Israeli University, the Haifa Technion, has entered the first hundred of international ranking of universities, prepared by the research Center of Shanghai University.
The Technion was ranked 93-th line, down 24 positions from last year. On the 93 rd place also is this year the Moscow state University.
For the first time since 2003 the Hebrew University was not included in the first hundred, and, together with the Weizmann Institute are included in the 101-150 group.
The tel Aviv University is in the 151-200 group, in the 401-500 group, for fifth and sixth places are the universities of Bar Ilan and Ben Gurion.
Shanghai’s ranking is recognized as one of the most influential rankings of higher education institutions in the world. The research is based on six objective indicators, including the number of alumni and teachers who were awarded Nobel prizes or Faldowski, the number of cited scientists and articles published in the journals Nature and Science. Since 2003, Shanghai University evaluates more than 1,200 universities and selects the best 500 of them.
In this year’s ranking traditionally, the first places are occupied by American and British universities.
