Ildar Dading, the opposition activist and the first Russian convicted under the article about repeated violation of the rules of picketing, was the winner of the award of Fund of Boris Nemtsov, «For the defense of democratic values in Russia» in 2017.

«The Fund Council Boris Nemtsov was determined the winner of the annual award for courage in defending democratic values. They became Ildar Dading», – stated in the message Kara-Murza.
Visit Ildar Dading in Facebook posted a quote from Boris Nemtsov: «to Be in the minority, to be against an aggressive, intoxicated crowd extremely uncomfortable and psychologically very hard. And dangerous. Know Bold, fearless and shake, at the cost of freedom and loss of wealth and comfort to fight for your and my freedom. They are in the minority, they are persecuted, mocked and ridiculed. But they are free, and most importantly – they are right.»
This prize is awarded annually, on June 12, Russia Day. As reported on the website of «Novaya Gazeta» readers choose the winner from 30 candidates.
This year there were five finalists, in addition to the Dading: schoolboy Maxim Losev, one of the organizers of the anti-corruption rally in Brjansk March 26, 2017, the detainee directly in the classroom at school; imprisoned activist Sergei Mokhnatkin, opposition politician, the candidate in presidents of the Russian Federation Alexei Navalny and human rights activist Zoya Svetova.
The survey took 12464 man. Dading gathered 22,08% of the vote, 19,94% was given for the Bulk, 13,18% — Mokhnatkina, of 5.66% for Svetovo and to 4.77% for Maxim Losev.
All five finalists will be invited to the award ceremony Boris Nemtsov, which will be held on 12 June 2017 in Bonn.
Nominees for the award nominated Russian and foreign non-governmental organizations: human rights center «memorial», the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the movement «Voice», «Solidarity», the Heinrich böll Foundation, Open Russia, the Foundation «Free Russia», Norwegian Helsinki Committee, the project «the Last address», the festival KULTURUS, Cologne Lev Kopelev Forum, expert group «European dialogue», Nizhny Novgorod Fund of social initiatives, community activists Aquatica.
The first prize winner has become in 2016 the head of the Pskov branch of the party «Yabloko» Leo schloßberg.
