The Ministry of environment gave the plant «Haifa Chemicalin» permission to work with toxic substances, necessary for emptying the storage of ammonia.
The permit is valid for a period specified by the Supreme court for the devastation location, i.e. until 18 September.
The corresponding decision, the Supreme court issued on July 27. Meanwhile, the state asked for a delay until January 2018. The court expressed the hope that the danger that threatens the inhabitants of Haifa, will be eliminated and will be found an acceptable solution for the workers of the plant «Haifa Chemicalin».
Tuesday, August 1, the administration of the plant «Haifa Chemicalin» announced the intention to close the plant and lay off workers. According to published information, the administration of the company told the workers that on 6 August they will start to receive letters of dismissal.
According to representatives of trade unions, the administration motivates the decision to close the plant by the lack of orders.
«All responsibility for the situation lies with the administration of the enterprise», – reads the statement of the trade unions.
We will remind, on may 28, the High court of justice ruled that the storage of ammonia in Haifa must be devastated until July 31. The high court also gave the company «Haifa Chemicalin» one-time permission to order additional quantities of ammonia with a volume of 11 thousand tons. On 5 June the Supreme court overturned this permission, as the company acknowledged, that will not be able to perform advanced conditions.
On 13 July the municipality of Haifa has issued an order on the suspension of the company «Haifa Chemicalin». The order was issued after it was found that on the territory of the enterprise was built a few structures without appropriate building permits.
After that 1200 employees «Haifa Chemicalin» was sent on forced leave.
